Oprah Winfrey Is Back In Television With CBS' '60 Minutes'
Oprah Winfrey, the world's most renowned television host, is returning to her broadcasting roots after almost six years. The multitalented businesswoman, philanthropist, actress and former TV host will join CBS' "60 Minutes" as a special contributor this fall, according to the network. However, she won't appear on every episode of the Sunday news program.
A report on Quartz stated that in her new role, Oprah will experiment on the cultural divides in the country. She said in a statement that at times when people are divided, he will strive to find relevant insight and perspective, to understand at what separates people. The show will also facilitate real conversations between people from different backgrounds.
Forbes opined, "The weekly program typically draws at least 10 million viewers, meaning Oprah will get serious attention and further solidify her already stellar reputation as an inspirational and skilled interviewer." "60 Minutes," executive producer Jeff Fager said in a statement that he is excited to team up with Oprah, who is a powerful voice in the industry.
Oprah is the world's richest TV personality and interestingly, she made a guest appearance on the same show back in 1986. She became a household name post the massive success of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," which ran for 25 years. From an average American to now ex-president Barrack Obama to late pop singer Michael Jackson to political leader Nelson Mandela, everyone has made their presence on the highest-rated talk show in US history. The show ended in 2011.
