‘Star Wars: Episode 8’ update: 'The Last Jedi' revealed, red font in new logo does not bode well for the fans

"Star Wars" movies are known for their poignant and interesting full titles, from "A New Hope" to "The Force Awakens." As for the upcoming eighth installment of the saga, Director Rian Jonson have kept every detail under wraps until last Monday, when the much-awaited announcement was made.

"Star Wars: Episode 8" is now known as "The Last Jedi." Initial reports by The Telegraph on the Episode 8 announcement have kept the internet abuzz, with fans speculating which Jedi does the latest title pertain to. The best bet for now is none other than Luke Skywalker himself (Mark Hamill), who marked his return in the last scene of 2015's "The Force Awakens."

Luke might literally be the last Jedi, following the revelations in "Star Wars: Episode 7." It appears that Luke started training Force-sensitive youngsters to become the next Jedi knights. Among his students was his nephew, Ben Solo (Adam Driver). Unfortunately, Ben's calling was more on the Dark Side, killing his fellow Jedi protégés. As Ben/Kylo Ren is en route to becoming a Sith Lord, Luke is the only one left with the Jedi title.

However, Luke is not expected to be the last Jedi for long, as "Star Wars: Episode VIII" might also feature the rise of another Jedi knight. Rey (Daisy Ridley) just discovered that she is very strong in the force, and with Luke's supervision, it is likely that Rey will become a full-fledged Jedi very soon.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, "The Last Jedi" will pick up where "The Force Awakens" took off. Johnson confirmed that there will be no time lapse between Episodes 7 and 8, meaning that "The Last Jedi" will likely begin from Luke and Rey's first meeting.

"Star Wars: Episode 8" also stars John Boyega, who plays the ex-stormtrooper Finn, and Oscar Isaac, reprising the role of Poe Dameron. The late Carrie Fisher who passed away last December will also return as General Leia Organa. The "Star Wars" veteran happened to complete filming all of Leia's scenes in Episode VIII before her death.

Meanwhile, some fans brought up the possibility of "Star Wars: Episode 8" being a tragic entry in the series. Polygon picked up the speculations that the crimson red used for the new "Star Wars" logo is not a good sign. The color red has been attributed to bloodshed, although the red font of "The Last Jedi" should not be seen as a hint. There are other "Star Wars" movies that used red font for their titles, namely "Return of the Jedi" and "Revenge of the Sith."
