Book Reviews: ‘Letters to a Young Muslim’ By Omar Saif Ghobash Advices How Muslim Should Act Moderately

Driven by his concerns over current Muslim extremist, Omar Saif Ghobash, an Arab Russian diplomat recently release a book featuring collection of letters. These letters contained messages reminding his children to act as a moderate Muslim. This book is originally published on Jan. 3, 2017 under the title "Letters to a Young Muslim".

Confronted with a situation where radical Islam have now scattered everywhere is worried how their two son would react on this matter. It is such a scary scene where Muslim should watch their fellow Muslim beheaded for acting beyond what is supposed to be a rule in Islam. He mentioned his concerned about this matter in his interview with Terry Gross, as transcribed in NPR.

Then, in this book he shift away on his opinion to an unorthodox thinking in Islam. It is about how Muslim should dressed. Many people assume that a Muslim is not supposed to be dressed as a non-Muslim because there is separate rules for Muslims on this matter. He thinks that this is a very outdated thinking concerning that it would hampered to people expression of their identity.

Instead of just focusing in a matter of radical Islam, Ghobash as author expressed his ideas on various debate in Islam started from small things such as moral and identity to a comprehensive matter regarding the destruction in radical Islam. But, as mentioned in News Day, Ghobash stated the only true Islam does not exist.

Muslim should have their faith as long as it is not far from what is being told as norm. In Google Books Review stated that Ghobash insisted on applying moderate Islam would be beneficial for Muslims to find a true stance for living their life by also stay involved with today's modern world.

Therefore, in this book, Ghobash pours his thoughts about how it should be moderate Islam must be applied in everyday life. Intended to be a reminding for his two son, this book will also be an interesting read for others. This collection of letters book will help us open our eyes regarding the problem of Islam today.
