Big Apple Circus: Bankruptcy Filed And Assets Up For Auction
A very shocking news happened last year when Big Apple Circus filed for bankruptcy. The circus is renowned for its very well executed performances and community programs. As per their website, they engaged community though joy and wonder of classic circus arts. Their movement as well as their passion to make everyone joyful has inspired many people across America.
Big Apple Circus became a large hit during the late 60s and early 70s. Not only that they serve entertainment during those times, they were also an avenue for inspiration to others. One of their main objective is to amaze people inside and make their time worthwile. As Mr. Weiss said on an interview at New York Times, "The impact of laughter is obviously a difficult thing to quantify."
Now they are soliciting bids for the sale of the assets they have. This is to preserve and maintain the mission of vision of Big Apple Circus and also court-ordered. According to New York Post, there wil lbe two options for bidding. Any interested buyes can bid for the whole collection in one lump sum or break the set into four seperate lots. This includes the tents, toys and supplies, power unit and vehicles. Any bidders will also have the chance to buy Big Apple Circus' intellectual property which includes copyrights and trademarks. All of their items are indeed set to be sold during the auction day.
One of the reasons they are closing is due to falling ticket sales. As the age of technology partnered with entertainment, most people are unlikely to go to circus anymore. The change of public tastes in entertainment varies now that media is almost anywhere. Another reason is high operating costs. Circus are hard to maintain due to a number of resources needed to make a single show successful, not to mention the manpower behind it.
