Hamilton Continues to Boast Pricey Resale Tickets, Enter Contest to Win Hamilton Tickets Here!
Few Broadway tickets have ever been as coveted as a pair of tickets to see Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City. The award winning production, which opened up on Broadway in August 2015, has been nothing short of a phenomenon on the Great White Way, and has commanded the biggest ticket prices the Broadway market has ever seen.
The long-sold out production, at its height, was clocking in resale ticket averages above and beyond the $4,000-mark, making it virtually impossible for the average-attendee to step foot in the door. With ticket prices waning, Broadway lovers are finally getting a chance to snag tickets to the show.
The hip-hop infused musical was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and took home a whopping 11 Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for drama this year. The production has been positively reviewed across the board, and has been deemed a cultural phenomenon by many, with the ticket prices to prove it.
As recently as July, resale tickets to see Hamilton averaged $1,527. When Miranda announced that he would be departing from his lead role on July 9, tickets skyrocketed, and his final performance averaged a whopping $4,306. Since Miranda's departure, tickets have been slowly dropping in price.
Hamilton has become more accessible not just for the waning ticket prices, but because the show has opened up in Chicago as well. Touring productions of the show will launch in other cities in the upcoming year. As it stands currently, resale tickets to see Hamilton in Chicago are averaging $660. In New York City, Hamilton tickets are averaging $1,318 on ticketiq.com.
But there's good news for fans who haven't been able to break the bank on tickets just yet.
