"Fifty Shades of Grey", a movie based on erotic romance was released in 2011. It was based on the novel of the same name written by E.L.James and was a global hit. Sadly, the same cannot be said about its sequel, "Fifty Shades Darker".

According to The New York Times, "Fifty Shades Darker", as the name goes is all about the relationship between Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and her billionaire boyfriend Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). The plot, just like the first movie, is circumfused with torturous and bondage methods of making love. Though all the cast and crew members from the first movie was kept intact, new director James Foley took the place of Sam Taylor-Johnson in "Fifty Shades Darker". Sources say the change might have occurred due to some tensions between Taylor-Johnson and the writer E.L.James during the shooting of the first film.

Experts say that "Fifty Shades Darker" had nothing much to offer than its previous installment. Same kind of straining sex, a regular routine of binding Anastasia Steele up and down, and usage of "expensive playthings" by Grey makes "Fifty Shades Darker" face a boring outcome. Abiding by the storyline, much of the playfulness of "Fifty Shades Darker" gets marred by the lack of love that was ably infused in the prequel.

According to The New Yorker, the only human substance to be recognized in "Fifty Shades Darker" is the need of therapy that is required by the main protagonist Christian Grey. Anastasia, having broken up with Grey at the end of the last movie, finds out that Grey wants to be back in her life in "Fifty Shades Darker". Grey affirms Anastasia of the fact that he is a changed man and will not be inflicting any kind of pain in her love life, only for Anastasia to find out that his way of taking pleasure out of love making has not changed.

As per sources, "Fifty Shades Darker" depicts a bright and brilliant woman like Anastasia in a very lowly manner. It shows as if it is her only way to get tormented mentally and physically by Grey. Her career and ambitions are not at all of any notice for Grey and other people, and she is in a position not to judge what is better for her career and her life.

The ability of James Foley to direct a movie like "Fifty Shades Darker" faces a big question mark. It is being said about the film that could have been made into an epic story of love and betrayal turned out to be one mid-range drama only because of the lack of proper direction. Many experts are of the opinion that the impersonality that grips "Fifty Shades Darker" could have easily been eradicated by able directorial technique.
