'Teen Wolf' Season 6 Recap: Midseason Finale Gives Fans Much-Awaited Stiles, Lydia Moment, But 'Stidia' May Still Not Have A Happy Ending

To recap, the Ghost Riders' threat to Beacon Hills has increased, forcing Scott, Lydia and Malia (Shelley Hennig) to banish them once and for all. The only way to do so is to open a rift in the Wild Hunt lair, but the Ghost Riders wouldn't allow the good guys to win that easily. Thus, an intense battle between Scott's wolf pack and the villainous creatures commenced in the "Teen Wolf" Season 6 winter finale.

"Teen Wolf" Season 6 midseason finale proved that the Ghost Riders are no match to the Beacon Hills werewolves, as the pack and their allies successfully opened the rift and eliminated them altogether. However, as per showrunner Jeff Davis' interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Ghost Riders' threat may be over, but only for now.

Davis told EW that while the Ghost Riders were defeated in the midseason finale, it doesn't mean that the effect of their very existence in "Teen Wolf" Season 6 will not be felt in the season's second half. He explained that the upcoming events in Season 6B wouldn't happen if not for the Wild Hunt's arrival in Beacon Hills.

Aside from the wolf pack's anti-Wild Hunt mission, "Teen Wolf" Season 6 midseason finale also featured Roden's character finally admitting her true feelings for Stiles. For the past seasons, Lydia has only been known as Stiles' banshee bestfriend, but the two were never seen taking their relationship to the next level. Finally in Season 6, the "Stidia" fans found a ray of hope that their relationship will not remain platonic, and inn Episode 10, Stiles and Lydia shared their first on-screen kiss as lovers.

The bad news for now is that Davis did not confirm O'Brien's return in the second part of "Teen Wolf" Season 6. The fans have yet to see what will become of Stiles' character and his newfound romantic relationship with Lydia. In fact, Davis' separate interview with TV Line hinted that nothing is final yet in this "Stidia" pair-up.

The "Teen Wolf" creator wanted to show that a relationship starting out as pure friendship can lead into long-lasting romance. Although, Davis gave a warning that Stiles and Lydia's love story may not end like how the fans want it to be. It is still possible that their relationship will not have a happy ending, with the two realizing in the remaining episodes of Season 6 that they are better off as friends.
