'The Big Bang Theory' Season 11 cancellation rumors: Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki give hope for 'TBBT' renewal

"The Big Bang Theory" Season 11 may still push through, in spite of several rumors suggesting that the hit CBS comedy sitcom will wrap up by the end of its tenth season. It appears that the TV network has yet to renew the actors' contracts for a few more seasons. Now, the fate of the show hangs loosely on the cast members' availability.

Among the show's main cast whose contract will expire at the end of Season 10 is Jim Parsons, who portrays the genius and anti-social physicist, Sheldon Cooper. The rumors are rife that Parson may decide to skip "The Big Bang Theory" Season 11 to focus on his other TV and radio commitments. However, it can be noted from his earlier interview with TV Line that he is looking forward to playing Sheldon once again after Season 10. He also spoke on behalf of his co-stars, saying that "TBBT" cast members are unlikely to leave the show anytime soon.

Parsons' radio commitment as mentioned is the political radio series called "Jim Parsons is Too Stupid for Politics." In a sit-down interview with ET Online at the SiriusXM Studio in New York City, Parsons revealed that his latest radio gig is not going to affect his present work on "The Big Bang Theory." Parsons' other upcoming project, the untitled "TBBT" spin-off featuring a teenage Sheldon Cooper, is expected to cast another younger actor for the lead role. He will serve as one of the show's producers.

Another "TBBT" star giving hope for the show's survival is Johnny Galecki. The actor, who plays the role of Leonard Hofstadter, told Entertainment Weekly that "The Big Bang Theory" may still have a long future ahead. He revealed that the writers are "very confident and excited that they can write some more" after Season 10.

Galecki, also starring in the upcoming horror movie "Rings," is uncertain regarding his own future on "The Big Bang Theory." The actor said that the writers are "still having a great time" on the show, and he is personally hoping to see more of it.

Kaley Cuoco, popularly known as Penny in "The Big Bang Theory," once said on Jimmy Kimmel Live last September that doing another season after the current one will be expensive. However, she's been open ever since to reprise her role if CBS decides to renew the show.

Meanwhile, the upcoming episode 14 of "The Big Bang Theory" Season 10 will air on Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. EST. The episode, titled "Emotion Detection Automation," will feature Raj (Kunal Nayyar) dealing with his four ex-girlfriends.
