Star Wars Spoof “Star Worlds” Sells Worldwide
The famous duo that created famous film parodies like Epic Movie and Scary Movie are making another film. And a week after the launching sales, the Star Worlds, produced by Covert Media, is sold to multiple markets at the Berlin Film Festivals.
According to Variety, Star Worlds has been acquired by many film distribution companies like Eagle Pictures for Italy, Constantin Film for Germany, Gussi for Latin America and Tripictures for Spain. The Eagle Films for the Middle East, Movie Cloud for Taiwan, PVR Pictures in India, Tanweer in Malaysia and to Red Pictures for Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam also bought the rights to the film.
Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer the ones who did the Scary Movie and Epic Movie has done another parody film this time it is from the Star Wars franchise entitled "Star Worlds Episode XXXIVE=MC2: The Force Awakens the Last Jedi Who Went Rogue." The Covert Media together with Broken Road Productions will be producing the film.
The target time for the shoot is fall 2017, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Covert Media's CEO Paul Hanson believes that Friedberg and Seltzer have proven time and time again that they are fully aware what the audiences want.
He is convinced that their comedic take on the franchise's most beloved characters both old school and new, 'Star Worlds' will leave no convention, cliché, or iconic moment untouched. The duo is fearless in tackling the pop culture and Hanson is excited to see what they will produce from world's most popular sci-fi movie.
The executive producers on Star Worlds include Media Content Capital's Sasha Shapiro, Covert's Elissa Friedman and Anton Lessine and Broken Road's Jeremy Stein. Friedberg and Seltzer are also responsible for the Twilight spoof Vampires Suck, The Hunger Games franchise spoof The Starving Games and The Fast and The Furious parody of Superfast!.
Beforehand, a Star Wars parody was also released in 1987 entitled Spaceballs directed by Mel Brooks.
