2017 Grammy Award News & Update: Why Adele Won Over Beyonce; Racism Absolutely Exists
On the 2017 Grammy Awards, Beyonce was announced as the winner for "Best Urban Contemporary Album" in her "Lemonade" album but Adele won the title of "Album of the Year" for 25. Meanwhile, Adele announced in her acceptance speech that Beyonce was also deserving to win the title.
During Adele's acceptance speech, she said that Beyonce's must be the one to won the "Album of the Year" and the artist that she admires the most in her life who had a monumental "Lemonade" album. Of course, music critics with her die hard fan will think that her album was remarkable and a well creative masterpiece.
The Grammy's decision was questioned to be "Just too black" for Grammy voters since it was seen to have a racial image and theme. Kevin Powell, the author of "The Education of Kevin Powell: A Boy's Journey" suggested it as the main reason of Beyonce's failure on the award.
He said that Beyonce's album "Lemonade" were just making a lot of people feel uneasy since it was contained with political issues, unapologetically black, more on spiritual and thoughtless feelings. But Kevin Powell gives his admiration to Adele's song because of its unsound viciousness emotion that contains with just love, claimed by CNN.
Moreover, Neil Portnow, Grammy's president speak out regarding the race problem are not true and urge that his award show was definitely not a racist. On Telegraph report, Herbie Hancock was the one who won the title "Album of the Year" in the last 10 years in his 2008 album which is a collection cover songs by Joni Mitchell similar on Adele and Beyonce's experience.
Meanwhile, the event of racism award ceremonies is not new since other star complained about the stuff. In fact, last year's Oscars ceremony was dismissed over the allegation of institutional racism with the stars such as Jada Pinkett-Smith and her husband Will Smith.
