Neil Patrick Harris 's Magic-Infused 'In & Of Itself' To Have A 10-week NY Engagement
A new stage show titled "In & Of Itself," directed by Frank Oz and presented by Neil Patrick Harris will have a 10-week limited engagement at the Daryl Roth Theatre in Union Square--the Off-Broadway venue owned by Broadway producer Daryl Roth. The show will have its New York preview on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, with an opening night set for Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
Oz is the produce recipient of four Emmy Awards and his best of works include "Little Shop of Horrors," "In & Out," "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," and "What About Bob?" He is also a lively performer on stage and his voiced for famous characters like Yoda, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Grover, and Cookie Monster. On the other side, Harris won the Tony Award for "Hedwig and the Angry Inch."
Variety reported that the hybrid show that combines the art of storytelling with magical works is created by magician Derek DelGaudio, who starred in "Nothing to Hide" directed by Harris. The show also comprises of another well-known name, Werner Entertainment led by Tom Werner, who is also a well-known TV producer, the chairman of the Boston Red Sox, and Gary Goddard Entertainment.
Theatre Mania described "In & Of Itself" as a "modern allegory," as it experiments the world of illusions and secrets of tomorrow. It explores the unseeable memories, unexplainable events that happen in life, and of course the secret dreams for tomorrow, thus building a long lasting paradox of illusions. Along with Harris and Werner, the show is co-produced by Gary Goddard Entertainment and Prediction Productions.
The technical side of "In & Of Itself" includes Glenn Kaino as artistic producer, original music by Mark Mothersbaugh and design by A.Bandit. The show originally premiered at Los Angles' Geffen Playhouse last year. The show is scheduled to run through June 18.
