'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' To Open in Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" has been opened at the box-office of Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre This new musical production will have its preview on March 28 followed by an official opening on April 23. The musical is base on the novel by Roald Dahl by the same name.
According to PlayBill, the cast list of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" will comprise of two-time Tony Award winner Christian Borle will be seen as Willy Wonka, John Rubinstein as Grandpa Joe, Emily Padgett as Mrs. Bucket, Ben Crawford as Mr. Salt, Emma Pfaeffle as Veruca Salt, Alan H. Green as Mr. Beauregard, Michael Wartella as Mike Teavee, Kathy Fitzgerald as Mrs. Gloop, F. Michael Haynie as Augustus Gloop, Trista Dollison as Violet Beauregard, and Jackie Hoffman as Mrs. Teavee,.
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"'s supporting cast includes Yesenia Ayala, Darius Barnes, Colin Bradbury, Jared Bradshaw, Cory Lingner, Elliott Mattox, Monette McKay, Kyle Taylor Parker, Paul Slade Smith, Katie Webber, Stephen Carrasco, Ryan Breslin, Kristy Cates, Madeleine Doherty, Paloma Garcia-Lee, Stephanie Gibson, Talya Groves, Robin Masella, Kristin Piro, Amy Quanbeck, Michael Williams, and Mikey Winslow along with debutants Jake Ryan Flynn, Ryan Foust and Ryan Sell.
Spearheaded by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien, Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award winner Marc Shaiman, is composing music for "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" with lyrics penned by Scott Wittman and Shaiman, a book by David Greig, choreography by Joshua Bergasse, sound design by Andrew Keister, puppet design by Obie and Basil Twist, projection design by Jeff Sugg, costume by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, orchestrations by Doug Besterman, and music direction and supervision by Nicholas Skilbeck.
The Broadway production of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is produced by Warner Bros in association with Theatre Ventures, Langley Park Productions and Neal Street Productions. Broadway World opined that the beloved classic-publish in 1964-narrates the story of Willy Wonka, who is all set to open his chocolate factor. However, only five children will get the opportunity to see the factory and the rest revolve around them.
