'Batman' Movie Won’t Be Directed by Ben Affleck Alone
Actor Ben Affleck revealed that he won't direct the movie standalone "Batman" and will just focus on playing his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman. He will only remain as a producer of the film. The actor says that he cannot juggle both the responsibility of being the actor and the director.
Despite this outcome, the Warner Bros. Studio would still like to work with him in the said project and fully supports his decision. Last year, the Studio head Kevin Tsujihara verified that the actor will be the main cast in the film which was then untitled. Just later this year, Affleck confirmed this fact. He said that being the director was just an idea but not the final thing to consider. Also, the script is not yet written.
Variety posted in an article that the Batman star's not handling the directing job has nothing to do with his setback in the project, "Live by Night", where he was also the director. Affleck highlights that his role as Batman needs a lot of focus and requires deep passion to successfully portray the character since Batman touches the hearts of millions of viewers. He won't sacrifice the project by juggling both duties.
According to The Verge, the search for the director would indeed delay the production of the film which may lead to some rescheduling of Warner Bros. release dates again. The company, though, confirms that they prepared a shortlist of possible directors that can be hired. One of them includes the helmer of "War for the Planet of the Apes", Matt Reeves.
Affleck is one of the casts in the upcoming superhero movie, "Justice League", which will be shown in the cinemas by November 17. After this, he would be go on the standalone Batman where also the co-writer together with Geoff Johns.
