Superhero Flicks: 'The Batman's' Ben Affleck Steps Down As Director; Bryan Singer To Direct 'X-Men' TV Series' Pilot

Ben Affleck has ditched his role as director of "The Batman" movie, the actor himself confirmed in a statement. However, he will still play the titular character in "The Batman", as well as co-write and produce the film.

In a statement obtained by Variety, Ben Affleck confirmed why he made the decision to step down as "The Batman's" director. "There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions," the actor said. "Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require.  

Affleck added that he has decided to look for a partner to help with directing the film. The actor also confirmed that he will play a great part in the project and he will get himself involved. It is just "The Batman" is "currently looking for a director." I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world," Affleck added. 

Ben Affleck made his debut as a fictional superhero in the film "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" last summer.  Ben Affleck also attended a Comic conference with the other DC Universe directors such as Patty Jenkins, who is directing the film "Wonder Woman", Rick Famuyiwa and "Justice League" director Zack Snyder. 

Meanwhile, Bryan Singer has been announced as the official director of "X-Men" TV Series' pilot. He was the man behind other X-Men movies such as "X2,"  "X-Men," "Days of Future Past and the "Apocalypse," according to Comic Book.

Bryan Singer also hinted that the "X-Men" TV series will be different from the other films that he directed since it will become a family drama. The 51-year-old film producer and director added that the cast will have "some familiar and some unfamiliar" appearance with the possible crossover with the X-Men movie franchise.

The "X-Men" TV series' first episode is titled "Legion" and will premiere on FX on February 8.
