iOS 10.3 Update: New OS Releases For iPad, iPhone; Airpod No GPS Feature
iOS 10.3 has been released by Apple for the iPad and iPhone. However, the new mobile OS version is only available to developers and those with a simple developer profile on their devices for now. Nevertheless, the new mobile OS brings a number of new features.
iOS 10.3 Features A New "Theater Mode" and Find My AirPods
The newly-released iOS 10.3 is reported to come with a new "theater mode" feature that enables the users to switch an iPad or the iPhone interface to a dark mode. However, this new feature is different from the dark mode concept that users have been waiting, as the new theater mode is believed to be included in the Apple Watch in the future. Meantime, Apple has not included any details about this new user-facing feature on the official iOS 10.3 release notes.
iOS 10.3 also comes with Find My AirPods, which is believed to be the most popular new feature in the new mobile OS. According to reports, there is a new option in the Find My iPhone app that searches for the last known location of every AirPod, allowing the users to locate it on a map. It should be noted, though, that AirPods do not come with a GPS feature, which means the app can only save the last location where an AirPod linked to the user's iOS device, Yahoo reported.
iOS 10.3 Allows Developers Change Home Screen Icon Without Update
The new iOS 10.3 is expected to allow developers to change the Home screen icon of an app without any required update. Although the app requires user permission to change the icon, it is still unclear if that is also required every time an icon changes or only during the first time, App Advice reported.
