Death Of Lead Guitarist Tom Edwards, Postpones Adam Ant Show

Legendary singer Adam Ant canceled his concert in New York on Friday Night due to the sudden demise of his band's lead guitarist Tom Edwards. Ant shared the news on his Facebook page and said it was to show respect to the departed soul.

According to the Billboard, Tom Edwards was aged 41 years at the time of his death. He was admitted to the Kennedy Hospital in Cherry Hill, New York on Wednesday after being found unresponsive in the morning. He is suspected to have passed away because of a heart failure.

Tom Edwards, apart from being the lead guitarist, was also the Music Director working for the band Adam and the Ants. They are currently on their "Kings of the Wild Frontier" tour which commenced a few nights ago in Washington DC. The Philadelphia show, scheduled to take place on Thursday night was also called off before the New York show on Friday. In an emotional post on Facebook, Ant said, "On behalf of Adam and his band, we thank all of you for your best wishes and support during this most difficult time." He also said that Tom Edwards never kept his work to himself and that "his spirit will live on forever."

According to The Sun, the British guitarist played a major role in Adam Ant's UK top ten hits between 1980 and 1983 along with three UK Number One singles with Adam and the Ants. The recent tour of America was in commemoration of the hit album of 1980 "Kings of the Wild Frontier". In an earlier interview, Tom Edwards had said that no compromise was made, either musically or visually while doing the album and it was completely done on his own terms and the public appreciated it for the same.

As per reports, an autopsy will follow, though the reason for the death of the British Rockstar has been primarily assumed as sudden heart failure. Tom Edwards had also toured with the likes of Edwyn Collins, Roddy Frame, Fields of the Nephilim Rebelles, Andrea Corrs, Arno Carstens and Spiderbites as a guitarist throughout his career. The loss of such an incredible musician leaves a void that will be very difficult to fill.
