Young Actor Shot And Killed In Real While Shooting For A Music Video
Accidents on shooting location are not uncommon but getting killed while filming a scene is rare. In an unfortunate incident, death claimed an unlikely victim in the form of the Australian actor and stunt man Johann Ofner while shooting a music video.
As reported by BBC, the incident took place inside the Brooklyn Standard bar near Eagle Lane in the City Centre, Brisbane where Ofner was shot in his chest while enacting a gunshot scene in a music video for Sydney based hip hop group Bliss n Eso.
In a statement to Australian news channels, the band's management confirmed the actor's death but incidentally none of the band members were present on the location at that time. Police has recovered many firearms from the spot, Investigating officer Inspector Tom Armitt has told the reporters that they are conducting an investigation under criminal offence as they are still unclear about the cause of death.
According to CNN, the Band representatives said there was no live ammunition present on the spot and Ofner was injured of a prop gun loaded with blanks. Investigators are examining CCTV footage to come to the conclusion in this matter. Ironically just before his death, Ofner posted three guns including a shotgun used in the shoot, on his Instagram account.
Apart from the band Bliss n Eso giving condolences to the family, friends of Ofner took to the social media platforms to show their support and grief. His partner model Kati Garnett wrote with a picture showing them in their happy moments, "Today the love of my life was taken from me and I still can't believe it"
She also said that he was like an angel to her and she will love him forever. In a statement by the Australian union representing actors, stunt professionals and film crews known as the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance, representative Zoe Angus agreed that the film industry needs more compliance with safety standards.
Johann Ofner was regarded as one the ace stunt persons in Australia and was due to appear later this year in "Australian Ninja warrior," a television competition. His profile on Stunt Book Australia mentioned that he had skills like "martial arts (weapons)" and "theatrical fighting."
