Fionn Meade, Artistic Director Of The Walker Art Center Resigns
Fionn Meade resigned from his work of being an Artistic Director of The Walker Art Center. The 76-year-old contemporary art institution in Minneapolis, Minnesota just recently in the morning that Fionn resigned and he has been in the institution for three years.
According to Star Tribune, Friday morning the walker announced in public that its artistic director Fionn Meade who served the institution for three years was leaving for personal reasons. Executive Director Olga Viso said at that time that the new post alters the familiar chief curator title to reflect the center's multidisciplinary approach.
It was remembered that Fionn was charged with overseeing the visual arts, moving images, performing arts and design.He also had an education public programs department at the Walker Center together with the department's interaction.
According to Artnews, Fionn Meade had served the institution since March 2015, and as a newly created role at the museum, he was named as an Artistic Director of The Walker Art Center. But before he becomes an Artistic director he served as the Walker's senior curator for ten months and definitely took over as a chief curator after Darsie Alexandra left the institution to become director New York's Katonah Art Museum.
Fion Meade was responsible for the first U.S solo exhibition of German artist Andrea Buttner which it pops up at the Walker in Fall 2015 together with Merce Cunningham: Common Time at the walker. Last spring Meade supervises the hiring of two new curators Adrienne Edwards, and Vincenzo de Bellis at the Walker Center.
Before he served the Walker Art Center he had been a curator, writer, and a faculty member at the Center for Curatorial Studies at the Bard College and Columbia University. But before that, he first held positions at the Sculpture Center in New York City and at the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle.
As of now, the Walker Art Center is currently in the middle of renovating the $75 million projects that include an overhaul of its original building facade, a refurbished entrance pavilion which recently opened.
