Bob Dylan's Never Ending Tour Rolls on Through the U.S. This Fall
Bob Dylan -- the "Voice of a Generation," the "Blind Boy Grunt" and the man who once claimed to have "sucked the milk out of a thousand cows" on his 2006 Modern Times opener, "Thunder on the Mountain" -- is continuing his so-called-since-1988 Never Ending Tour this fall with a slew of just-announced concert dates throughout the United States.
The new dates were made public on Sunday. Mr. Jack Frost himself will be stopping at venues like Charlotte, North Carolina's Blumenthal Performing Arts Center on Sunday, November 6, and Orlando, Florida's Dr. Phillips Center on Tuesday, November 22. Rolling Stone also listed some of the places the Bard will be visiting on this leg of his Never Ending Tour:
"The new leg kicks off October 16th in Phoenix, Arizona and moves its way eastward, hitting Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, the Virginias, the Carolinas, Tennessee and finally Florida, ending -- for now -- November 23rd in Fort Lauderdale, Florida."
Bob Dylan, who turned 75 in May, has kept a constant international touring schedule for the past 30 years. Officially termed a "Never Ending Tour" by industry and fans alike, Dylan himself refuses the moniker. In the liner notes of his 1993 album World Gone Wrong, Dylan stated as such:
"Don't be bewildered by the Never Ending Tour chatter. There was a Never Ending Tour but it ended in 1991 with the departure of guitarist G. E. Smith. That one's long gone but there have been many others since then: 'The Money Never Runs Out Tour' (fall of 1991), 'Southern Sympathizer Tour' (early 1992), 'Why Do You Look At Me So Strangely Tour' (European Tour 1992), 'The One Sad Cry of Pity Tour' (Australia and West Coast American Tour 1992), 'Outburst of Consciousness Tour' (1992), 'Don't Let Your Deal Go Down Tour' (1993) and others ... too many to mention."
Consequence of Sound added that the "newly announced trek runs through most of October and November" and is "in continued support of Dylan's latest album, this year's Fallen Angels."
