Darlene Love Gets 'Trip of Love' Underway Along With ‘Dance Mom’ Nia Sioux

Actress and vocalist Darlene Love will be joining the cast of the nostalgic Off-Broadway musical Trip of Love. The singer of the 1962 No. 1 hit "He's a Rebel" will suitably debut in the '60s hits revue for a nine-week turn beginning July 28.

Love joins Dance Moms star Nia Sioux, already a part of the show's cast. Sioux teamed up with the production earlier this month. Trip of Love, the self-described "dance-musical spectacle," plays at New York's Stage 42 venue through the fall.

Broadway.com reported of Love's excitement in joining the Off-Broadway staging that explores the songs of America's "cultural decade." In a press release obtained by the website, the artist shared her pleasure in landing a part in the musical:

"What a fun show! When I saw the show, the audience was waving their arms and singing along. They had a grand time," said Love, in a statement. "I remember all those classic songs. The lyrics are meaningful and help tell the story. I did sing on a number of them. They are not from records that I made, but I am really looking forward to putting my own signature on "Moon River," "Both Sides Now" and so many others."

As described by Playbill, Love will accompany the Trip of Love players in the show's interpretations of many classic songs from the 1960s:

Trip of Love brings the 60's to life with some of the decade's biggest hits, including "Blowin' in the Wind," "Born to Be Wild," "California Dreamin'," "I Saw Her Standing There," "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'," "White Rabbit," "You Don't Own Me" and more.

Love was selected for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. At the 2011 ceremony for the prestigious accolade, Love was officially inducted into the world famous music museum by none other than fellow superstar singer Bette Midler
