Nick Kroll and John Mulaney Bring Their Comedy to Broadway With ‘Oh, Hello’

Comedians Nick Kroll (Kroll Show, The League) and John Mulaney (Saturday Night Live, The Comeback Kid) are bringing their bizarre brand of comedy to the Great White Way this fall.

The pair's stage show, Oh, Hello on Broadway, is based on a Kroll Show bit that featured the two comedians portraying deluded theatrical geezers Gil and George. According to information obtained by Playbill, the Broadway adaptation represents a culmination of the duo's comedic vision:

Kroll and Mulaney, according to press notes, "star as Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland -- outrageously opinionated, 70-something, native New Yorkers that [the duo] first began performing on the alternative comedy stages in NYC. Honed for over a decade, the fictional duo garnered a cult following and found their way onto a Comedy Central special, viral videos and late night couches everywhere."

Kroll first came to mainstream success in the short-lived 2007 ABC sitcom, Cavemen, which was based on the then-popular "GEICO Caveman" advertisements for car insurance. The actor, writer and producer later struck comedic gold portraying Rodney Ruxin in the television series The League before launching his own jocular vehicle, Kroll Show.

Mulaney began his entertainment career as a stand-up comedian before landing a writing gig on Saturday Night Live in 2008, occasionally appearing on the program's "Weekend Update" segments. In 2013, the comedian created sitcom Mulaney, an autobiographical situation comedy.

On Sunday, the two comedians spoke to the New York Times in a telephone interview promoting the upcoming production. The twosome made clear that certain aspects of Oh, Hello's original Off-Broadway inception will remain in the new version -- namely, tuna fish:

"What won't change about Oh, Hello, they said, was its 'Too Much Tuna' segment, in which audience members and celebrities (including past guests like Bill Hader and Marcia Clark) are brought onstage and given enormous quantities of tuna fish."

Previews for Oh, Hello at the Lyceum Theatre begin Sept. 23, with opening night set for Oct. 10.
