'House of Cards' Season 5: Release Date, Cast , Teaser , Rumors & Everything To Know

Frank Underwood is still in the game in the House of Cards Season 5, and with the behind-the-scenes shake up’s he is going to be in power for the time to come. There were a lot’s of speculations concerning Frank’s life at the end of the season but with all of the online teasers and gathered information it is easier to keep track with the progress of the show.

According to Den of Geek, Netflix confirmed the release date of the House of Cards Season 5 on 30 May 2017, with the new trailer released on their twitter page for inauguration day. With this decision, they broke the tradition for the House of Cards premiere, which was in February, and the series is moved from Q1 series to Q2 series.

According to Express, the new season of House of Cards is filled with some new faces, which includes The Amazing Spiderman’s (Campbell Scott) and the Six Feet Under and Shutter Island actress Patricia Clarkson. With some new pictures showing her chatting with Claire in the Whitehouse while Scott is in picture in the conversation with Will Conway which implies that he might be on the opposite side of the Underwoods. The rest of the old crew will continue their seats. As expecting Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are to return as Frank and Claire Underwood, Elizabeth Marvel will return as Heather Dumbar, Michael Kelly as Dough Stumper, Neve Campbell as Joel Kinnaman with Jane Atkinson as Katherine Durant. ‘The character has run its course’ is one of the reasons actor Mahershala Ali will not be appearing in the new season. That and the busy schedule for filming the season two of Netflix – Luke Cage.
By looking at all the teasers it is shown the short history of Franks journey from Vice-president to Commander-in-chief. In the previous season, Frank tried to draw some attention away from the scandal that almost flooded the Underwood-Underwood election campaign with him promising to ‘make the terror’. Many fans acclaimed that there are huge similarities between Frank turbulent campaign and Donald Trump’s own unconventional election.

As reported by Daily Star, the leave of showrunner Beau Willimon caused the fans to make speculations about the cancelation of the House of Cards Season 5. It is being said that Willimon is substituting the fictional political environment for the real thing and that he is using his time in forming the Action Group Network to oppose President-elect Donald Trump. The cancellation rumors were loosened down in addition of the new cast members joining the team and the fact that Michael Kelly who plays Dough Stumper, has already been working on the first episodes from the new season. In the original BBC series, Frank was assassinated by his wife so in theory, you might expect the same from the Netflix series. The audience is to expect some radical changes according to Michael Kelly.
