Millions of tourists flock to New York City around the holidays to experience some of the traditions that make Manhattan great this time of year. Whether it's visiting Rockefeller Center and viewing the giant tree, seeing the legendary Rockettes perform, or lacing up the ice skates in Central Park, there's nothing quite like Christmas in New York.

This is also a great time of year for taking in a Broadway show as a myriad of opportunities await. Although some theater fans may fork up the extraordinary prices for Hamilton tickets, many other great shows have availability this holiday season and shouldn't be ignored.

A Bronx Tale The Musical, for instance, opened at the Longacre Theatre in November, and the show is expected to be a force at next year's Tonys. The musical, based on Chazz Palminteri's popular book, film and one-man show about his experience growing up in a Bronx neighborhood around mafia members, features a book by Palminteri, music by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin), and lyrics by Glenn Slater. In addition, the legendary Robert De Niro and Jerry Saks share directing duties. Tickets for A Bronx Tale The Musical range from $45-$167 directly through Telecharge.

The Tony-winning musical adaptation of Alice Walker's Pulitzer-winning classic The Color Purple from director John Doyle plays at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre and is a great story to see this holiday season, as both Cynthia Erivo and Jennifer Holliday are terrific as Celie and Shug. Tickets for The Color Purple start at just $59 right through the box office.

The Ambassador Theatre offers the longest-running revival in Broadway history, Chicago. Now in its 20th year, for those who haven't seen it or checked out the Bob Fosse/Fred Ebb-penned production in a while, this is a show that never gets old thanks to a memorable score and incredible dancing. Veronica Dunne and Lana Gordon are currently starring as Roxie and Velma, respectively, and Paul Alexander Nolan plays slick lawyer Billy Flynn. Fans traveling to the city can snag Chicago tickets right through the box office starting at just $49.50

The buzzy musical Dear Evan Hansen is being staged at the Music Box Theatre. Ben Platt of Pitch Perfect fame plays the titular character, while Glee's Laura Dreyfuss plays his love interest, Zoe. Written by the Tony-nominated team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the show has truly memorable songs in "Waving through a Window," and "You Will Be Found." Once word gets out more about this show, it's sure to be one of the toughest tickets next year, so see it while you can. Dear Evan Hansen tickets range from $69-$175.
