Grand Harmonie Performs All-Mozart 'Gods & Mortals' Nov. 3-6 in New York and Boston
Period music ensemble Grand Harmonie will put on their all-Mozart Gods and Mortals show this week in New York and Boston. Led by violinist Cynthia Roberts, the three scheduled performances will take place on Nov. 3 at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital, Nov. 4 at St. Ignatius of Antioch in Manhattan, and on Nov. 6 at United Parish in Brookline, Massachusetts.
The program for Gods and Mortals features Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Violin Concerto in A K. 219, Serenata Notturna K. 239 and Symphony No. 41, Jupiter.
Per a press release, as excerpted from a Opus Affair, the upcoming performances from Roberts and Grand Harmonie promise to present a uniquely entertaining affair for the whole family:
"The mortals of Grand Harmonie join with the divine powers of the celebrated Cynthia Roberts, violin and leader, to breathe life into the celestial and eternal music of Mozart's 41st Symphony, Jupiter. Ms. Roberts will also tackle Mozart's beguiling Violin Concerto in A K. 219, and will join Grand Harmonie's principal strings in Mozart's delightfully weird Serenata Notturna K. 239 featuring solo timpani. Ms. Roberts is one of America's leading performers of baroque and classical violin, touring and performing regularly in the United States and Europe. She is the concertmaster of New York Collegium, Apollo's Fire, and Concert Royal and recently appeared at the invitation of William Christie as concertmaster of Les Arts Florissants. Ms. Roberts appears regularly with Tafelmusik and the American Bach Soloists, and is principal second violin in the Carmel Bach Festival."
The performance on Thursday, Nov. 3, is free and open to the public. It takes place at 12 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, Atrium of the Guggenheim Pavilion; 1190 5th Ave. at E. 101st St, New York, New York, 10029.
The Friday, Nov. 4 concert starts at 7:30 p.m at St. Ignatius of Antioch; 552 West End Avenue, New York, New York, 10024. Tickets are $15-$35.
The performance on Sunday, Nov. 6, begins at 3 p.m. at United Parish; 210 Harvard St, Brookline, Massachusetts, 02446. Tickets are $15-$35.
